Luxemburgerli 15 July 2011

Tonight, we are spending the night at the airport. It is very quiet as all the trains has stopped for the night and the airport is closed. The only sounds are the light music in the background and the continuous noise of the floor cleaner machine. I think my longest lasting memory of Zurich will be the the endless obsession with cleaning the streets and floors in the wee hours of the morning and late in the night.

We found the airport completely shutdown, after self check in, we walked around the whole place seeing where we can do electronic baggage drop off. It appears this is not possible. So here is our set up for the night.

On our trip around the airport, we noticed all the cushioned seats in the airport has already occupied and it looks like for quite a while too. There are some very savvy travelers out there!

Today we have not really planned for much as we have visited all the key sights in Zurich. So we decided to do a bit of souvenir shopping. We also had lunch at the Movie Restaurant. I love the set up inside as the whole place is created to resemble a movie set. Even the toilet mirrors were made to be dressing mirrors for stars!

Here is our lunch, Pasta of the day and Fish with salad. the meal came with it's own drink. We ordered Coca Cola. Swiss has bottling of 1L. Perfect for sharing.

Later our wandering took us to the Catholic city church Liebfrauen. It was massive! As we looked upon it from the street level the over powering majesty of this church just amazes me.

At the top of the alter crowned in glory is the Lamb of God. The design of the alter reminds me of the majestic nature of God, He is king and Lord of all.

There are 8 beautiful wall murals bordering the church depicting the life of Jesus painted by Fritz Kunz (1907 and 1923).

To the side of the alter is a caving similar to the Pieta in Italy.

We actually walked into an Adoration in the church crypt which was very nice as we got to spend some time with the Lord. It felt like Jesus was welcoming me to spend some time with him.

As we wandered from the church we decided to finally give the Luxemburgerli from Spriigli a go. They were delicious!

Vincent had chocolate, hazelnut and champagne flavor.

I had chocolate, cappuccino and passionfruit flavor.

I'm so glad we only tried them on the last day, otherwise I think I will wanna have some every day!
They were a terrific way to conclude our trip!

We still had plenty of free time left after this afternoon snack so we sat at one of the bridges to allow me to sketch a little.

We didn't actually have dinner, because we noticed that even reaching evening we often still see many locals having cake and coffee. We decided to follow suit and have a late sweet too!

I don't know when I would get the chance to post this online. It will mostly be in UK as we leave early tomorrow morning.

Next blog? How we survived the night in an airport!
