Museo de las Ciencias Principe Felipe 24 Aug 2011

Alright, for those of you who know me you would have realized by now I'm a bit of a science geek! There is nothing quite like an interactive science museum that can lure me and keep me happy for hours. I felt like I was a kid again and being allowed to play all day! Even my cold could not keep me down!

Let's start from the beginning, we traveled again to the Ciudad, this time the supermarket first for some brunch. Check out all the Spanish Jamon! It has become a normal sight for us now in Spain, but for those who are curious this is how they sell them in the supermarket!

After a simple meal we headed to the museum. I must insist again, this is an Interactive Museum! How awesome! How Be-awesome!!!

Yellow lights effect on colour.

The boys trying to build a Catenarian Arch.

Rotating discs

Why ships float.

Pulleys, why and how they work.

Me and Mr Einstein.

Children learning the theory of tornados.

A giant double helix!!!!!

Which came first? egg or chicken?!

A display on the uses of wood.

This part was absolutely fantastic. Marvel Superhero to attract people to learn about science!

A space satellite.

A chromosome forest. In the forest is the section relates to genes and their function in our lives. Lots of interesting biology.

This was the Theatre of Electricity. If you wanna see a similar show, there is the Science day available each year at the University of Auckland. The physics department hosts a terrific show. The bonus is that it is all in English!

This is the length of our small intestine, from Vincent to Dominique!

Me taking a blood pressure test. Normal Doc?

I had a fantastic time there, the best part is most of the display have english translation which makes the Museum all the more enjoyable. A day could easily be spent there to learn and play. I'm sure school kids in Valencia must have so much fun when they get to come here for a day trip.

That night we headed out to the beaches of Valencia for their famous paellas!

A little energetic dog that ran all over the place. In the end the owners had to put on it's leash to keep it from running everywhere!

We had dinner at La Pepica. The most famous paella restaurant in Valencia.
How famous? The restaurant opens at 8.30pm, there is a sign at the door that gives the phone number for reservation even though there are waiters working inside. If you ask one of them to make a reservation for you, they will simply tell you to call them, when you are standing at their door!

By time time it was 8.15pm, a queue is waiting to get inside. By 8.45pm this huge restaurant is already fully seated!

The paella requires at least two people serving so make if you visit this place its best to come as a group.

Us waiting for our paellas, it takes 30mins to cook, and with this busy restaurant, don't be surprised if you have to wait even longer!

This is the Queen Salad.

Our paellas! The left is the Valencian Paella with chicken and Rabbit, the next one is the Paella Pipica, a seafood paella.

Absolutely delicious, we came out of that restaurant filled to the brim with rice. Although a bit more pricy it is a must try if you visit Valencia. The food and service is excellent, but like most European restaurants they were a bit slow to give us the cheque. Still okay as long as you leave plenty of time better asking for the cheque and your next bus/train.

We left at 10.30pm and there was still a queue outside waiting to be seated!
