Camp Nou and the music fountain 27 Aug 2011

Ole, Ole Ole Ole!!!
Home to the most star soccer players on the planet - Camp Nou!

I'm not a soccer fan myself but I still enjoyed the atmosphere as soccer fans from all around the world come to tour the stadium and museum of the home of the Barcelona team.

FCB top award winning players.

The stadium.

The changing room, it looks a bit too clean, I'm wondering whether this is the real deal?

The passageway where the players run out into the stadium!

Look at this immaculately kept grass! We couldn't even get near it, security guards were watching closely...

This is where the press sit.

There is the B team stadium, have much to aspire to don't they?!

The FCB song in different languages.

Inside was a multimedia room where there were touch screen monitors everywhere to view photos and videos of memorable match moments.

The souvenir shop.

I think football fans must get pretty worked up by this visit, but it does come at a cost, the entry fee is 22 euros per person. There were definitely many people willing to pay this fee to get a closer look at their favorite team. It was an interesting experience for me.

Later on that evening we attended Mass at the cathedral, unfortunately there was not enough time to take photographs as a Mass followed directly after, but it is quite a lovely place even under all the scaffolding during its renovation.

This was the Cloister in the back, it is very different from other cloisters we have visited so far, but it is Barcelona afterall.

That night we followed the recommendation of a website to visit the music fountains. Before it started we took a detour to Plaza de Espana, to a beautiful mall.

The price of the food in the food court is quite expensive, since there was no difference in price, we decided to go for some Japanese Udon instead of Spanish Bocadillo.

The music fountains is located near the Fira Barcelona, the music plays for around 20 mins and starts every half hour from 9 to 11 pm.

By the time we got there it was too hard to get close, we managed to get a standing spot just across the road. Those little shapes u see in silhouette are actually people. It gives you a feel of the size of the fountain!

It is quite fantastic, I haven't read on many websites that recommend this place, but it is definitely worth seeing if you have an evening free after dinner. The big plus is that there is no entry fee, it is open to the public.

After the fountain we headed home for an early night, tomorrow we will be leaving Spain and will slowly make our way into Italy.
